Who hasnt heard of a "little Mermaid" in Copenhagen..? It's always been there... It's also a figure out of its natural element; sitting on a stone, above water...

Since 1992 a group of seapeople also appeared in a canal, all below surface... Living in their right sphere; they look much more real...

However, there's a a statue, even more surreel. Imagine, walking down the main street, and you suddenly see someone balancing on a roof..? It's 20 meters above, so it may take a moment to see: it's not a human worker repairing the roof, but the greek god: Hermes...

But, why show the same statue twice..?

Actually they are not totally alike; the left is seen slightly from left, and the right from right. If you focus directly on the image, you see 2 flat copies.

If you focus a bit closer, then views from each eye will start to blend. Normally this would only confuse, but in this case not. Try this:

Focus at a distance that makes you see 3 figures: The first will be the left image only, still flat. The third is the right one only and also flat. But the second shows both the left and right version, at the same place at the same time. And..?

Our brain fuses the two flats into one with depth. In other words: It's artificial 3D but without any special glasses, or any other extra stuff. And it actually works: Have a look...
